2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB
April 11 2023,
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB luxury subcompact SUV is a new-concept model. This all-electric sport utility vehicle presents an alternative to the GLB, another of the automaker’s well-known SUVs. The look of the EQB is along the same lines as that of the other vehicles in the EQ lineup, befitting its underlying technologies. Here, we have a well-developed Benz that’s both luxurious and innovative.
The 2023 EQB: an EV in the Mercedes-Benz tradition
EQ, which stands for “electric intelligence quotient,” is at the heart of Mercedes’ approach. The 2023 EQB reinforces this offense strategy, the target of which is the Tesla Model Y. In terms of esthetics, the battle is well underway, as the 2023 EQB is far from ungainly, despite its dimensions, which, in the vehicle’s five-seat configuration, offer 1,710 liters of cargo volume. The exterior focuses heavily on aerodynamics, resulting in a drag coefficient of only 0.28. The wheels are optimized, the grille is streamlined and even the cooling airflow is the object of active management.
On Canadian soil, the 2023 EQB will initially avail of a single powertrain. Thus, the 350 4MATIC all-wheel drive version will be the first to entice us. This powertrain (with two electric motors) produces 288 horsepower (215 kW) and 384 pound-feet of torque. This enables the vehicle to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just over 6 seconds.
As for the energy source, it’s a fully integrated 69.7 kWh lithium-ion battery. In supercharge mode, it reportedly takes no more than 30 minutes or so to recharge it from 10 to 80 percent. Otherwise, it’s a matter of 7 to 8 hours to take it from 0 to 100 percent. Depending on road and weather conditions, the EQB offers a range of approximately 380 kilometers. Mercedes has nevertheless focused on kinetic energy recovery. This is very efficient, thanks to a three-level automatic (or manual) mode. Moreover, the ECO Assist system optimally controls this recovery by employing GPS and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
A noteworthy interior
It’s no surprise that the interior of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB is luxurious, modern and refined. In terms of ambient light, the cabin is customizable with a choice of 64 possible colors. The rest will depend on the selected options, including fine-filter dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an MBUX infotainment system and a wealth of safety features. Overall, it’s solidly built, beautiful and exhilarating.
