The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS: premium electric sedans and SUVs

Situated at the very top of the range, the EQS series from Mercedes-Benz won’t disappoint. Far from it! Even more incredibly spellbinding than the S-Class models, the 2023 EQS large luxury sedans and SUVs raise the bar several notches in the realm of electric vehicles. These solidly built EVs are powerful, quiet and loaded with cutting-edge technologies.

Various 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS versions to choose from

For 2023, Mercedes-Benz will offer a number of different EQS models. In terms of sedans, which boast an industry-leading drag coefficient of 0.20, there’s the EQS 450 4MATIC, the EQS 580 4MATIC and the EQS AMG 4MATIC+. All of these EQS models feature two electric motors whose power is electronically managed and distributed to the four wheels in a continuously variable fashion, based on the demands of the road and the requirements of the driver.

The EQS 450 4MATIC avails of 355 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. Meanwhile, the 120 kWh lithium-ion battery gives the vehicle a range of approximately 500 kilometers. The powertrain of the EQS 580 4MATIC offers a total of 516 hp (631 lbf·ft) with a range of more than 550 kilometers. As for the AMG version, it comes with modifications in the suspension, brakes, wheelwork and esthetic elements, as well as even more power: 751 hp and 752 lbf·ft (in Race mode), enabling it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in only 3.4 seconds.

Two Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicles will be available in 2023: the EQS 450 4MATIC SUV and the EQS 580 4MATIC SUV. Built on the same platform as the sedans, with the same wheelbase, they’re only a little shorter (- 14 cm) and wider (+ 3.3 cm); however, they’re 20.5 cm higher. The height of the pneumatic suspension springs is adjustable in order to achieve adequate ground clearance in rugged terrain. In terms of overall power, the electric motors produce 355 hp and 536 hp, respectively.

Luxury and advanced technology

With top-stitched leather, sumptuous carpeting, walnut trim, aluminum molding, a curved glass dashboard with three digital screens, an eight-processor MBUX interface, advanced voice-command connectivity features, distinctive accessories and more, every inch of the passenger compartment in the EQS series of vehicles exudes sophistication and opulence.
