2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC
February 20 2023,
The new-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC is coming out one year after the transformation of the C-Class from which it draws its inspiration. The model year of this luxury compact SUV is technically 2023, but since certain versions won’t arrive until the middle or even the end of the year, the automaker is also presenting it as a 2024 model. For example, in the Canadian market, only the GLC 300 4MATIC version will be available at first. We’ll have to wait until 2024 for the AMG and plug-in hybrid models.
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC: comfortable and efficient
As the most popular crossover from Mercedes-Benz, the base version of the GLC avails of a 2.0 L inline-four engine, capable of producing 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. A built-in starter-alternator, providing 48 V of auxiliary power, briefly adds another 23 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque in certain situations. Meanwhile, the automatic transmission features nine speeds.
With a 6 cm increase in its length and a 1.5 cm increase in its wheelbase, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC benefits from a new four-link front suspension system and an amplitude-dependent damping system. As a result, it promises a smoother, more comfortable ride.
Aimed at innovation
The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe lineup (anticipated for release here in 2024) should be interesting. The powertrains of the 43 and 63 versions will generate 402 and 671 horsepower, respectively. A new top-of-the-line version (the GLC 63 SE Performance) may also be available.
Like the base model of the GLC 300, the coupe versions will offer a very chic cabin loaded with even more standard equipment and technologies. These include a powerful 710 W 15-speaker surround sound system, a navigation system featuring augmented reality, an innovative 360-degree camera system with all-terrain mode…and the list goes on.
